Mobilizing the power of the software: ZF integrates software solutions with chassis technologies to further improve vehicle performance and safety

Braking and E-Drive Synergies Program: ZF increases the energy efficiency by making it compatible with the control software of electric power transfer bodies and brake system

ZF Friedrichshafen AG, one of the world’s largest automotive suppliers, activates the power of software in the development of more smart, more connected and more efficient commercial vehicle technologies. ZF’s smart software solutions are integrated with chassis technologies to increase vehicle performance and safety, thus providing safer and comfortable journey. As automotive technologies turn towards digital integration, the ZF, which further reinforces smart and connected technologies as a pioneer of smart and connected technologies, uses the software expertise within the group to realize the production of smart systems that can reduce the total cost of ownership (TCO) in a quick and cost -effective way.

BRAKING AND E-Drive Synergy Program

Evaluation of the energy that occurs with the slowdown of the vehicle in the charging of the batteries on the vehicle helps to extend the range of electric vehicles effectively or reduce the size of the necessary batteries. ZF’s braking and e-installation synergy program reduces the cost of ownership (TCO) while increasing efficiency, security and comfort by optimizing electrical transfer bodies and braking functions beyond existing standards to optimize the recovery under full balance control.

The system uses ZF’s new generation Axtrax 2 Dual and Cetrax 2 Dual Electric Transfer solutions with the MBSP XBS advanced braking system and uses the skills of electric drive products to control acceleration and braking. In doing so, the system effectively extends the range of the vehicle by maximizing the energy recovery to recharge the built -in batteries during driving. The system also provides ‘driving with a single pedal’ functionality and increases driving comfort, especially in low -speed maneuvers such as land or city driving. In addition, the system, which optimizes the traction control function, offers advanced departure capabilities by reducing tire wear and increasing vehicle performance and balance on slippery ground.

Software brake resistance

ZF has developed a software solution that will replace hardware brake resistances for electric vehicles. This new software function is in a wise limit the energy of the battery under certain charging conditions. Using the location data, regenerative braking predicts the energy recovered at the beginning of the driving, making the battery more efficiently during charging. The system allows the battery to be completely charging when the battery outlet is installed in all other areas.

Thanks to this innovation that does not require heavy and expensive braking resistances, energy efficiency is maximized and all energy becomes available for driving. This solution, which reduces the vehicle weight approximately 150 kg, increases the usable volume on the chassis. The system reveals how a server-poum-based smart function increases productivity and sustainability and savings from cost and weight.
