Fang Cheng Bao saw its 100,000th vehicle delivery, marking a milestone for the BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) sub-brand.

The brand announced the milestone on Weibo today, saying it’s one of the top three fastest car brands in China to reach 100,000 deliveries.

That’s 18 months after Fang Cheng Bao’s first vehicle was delivered in November 2023.

Fang Cheng Bao sold 10,039 vehicles in April, bringing cumulative sales to 91,351 units, data compiled by CnEVPost show.

That means Fang Cheng Bao has delivered about 8,650 units so far this month.

BYD officially launched the Fang Cheng Bao brand and a technology platform called DMO on August 16, 2023, and debuted the brand’s first Bao 5 off-road SUV (sport utility vehicle) on the same day.

The Bao 5 was officially launched on November 9, 2023, and deliveries began at the end of the same month.

On November 12, 2024, Fang Cheng Bao launched the Bao 8 off-road SUV, its second model after the Bao 5, and the first model under the BYD umbrella to feature Huawei’s driver assist system.

On April 16, Fang Cheng Bao launched the Tai 3, the first model in its Tai lineup, expanding its product coverage from off-road SUVs to family SUVs.

Fang Cheng Bao is one of BYD’s main brands exploring the premium electric vehicle (EV) market, and the Bao 8 sold for an average price of around RMB 400,000 yuan ($55,440) in January-April, it said today on Weibo.

The Bao 8 is Fang Cheng Bao’s most expensive, currently starting at RMB 379,800 to RMB 407,800 in China.

The less expensive Bao 5 currently starts at RMB 239,800 to RMB 329,800 in China. The least expensive Tai 3 starts at RMB 133,800 to RMB 193,800.

Fang Cheng Bao’s current trio of models are all SUVs, but it is expected to announce its first sedan later this year.

Fang Cheng Bao’s sedan lineup will be unveiled late this year, and the new Tai lineup would have more models later this year, the brand’s general manager, Xiong Tianbo, said in an interview with local automotive media outlet Dongchedi late last month.
