Denza, the premium brand of BYD (OTCMKTS: BYDDY), today announced on Weibo that it has seen the 10,000th Denza N9 SUV (sport utility vehicle) roll off the production line.

This comes two months after the launch of the large luxury SUV.

The Denza N9 was launched on March 21 and is available in two variants starting at RMB 389,800 ($54,090) and RMB 449,800 respectively.

The six-seat hybrid SUV becomes Denza’s flagship model and measures 5,258 mm in length, 2,030 mm in width and 1,830 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,125 mm.

It is equipped with BYD’s e3 technology, and can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 3.9 seconds.

The e3 technology can be seen as a scaled-down version of BYD’s e4 technology for ultra-luxury cars, bringing tri-motor independent drive with rear-wheel steering.

The Denza N9’s main competitors include Li Auto’s (NASDAQ: LI) Li L9, which starts at RMB 409,800, and Aito’s M9, which starts at RMB 469,800.

Denza sold 15,388 units in April, up 38.36 percent year-on-year and up 21.93 percent from March, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.

This includes 5,018 units of the N9, 9,045 units of the D9 MPV (multi-purpose vehicle), 1,023 units of the Z9 series, and 302 units of the N7 SUV.
